This notice explains how Acacia Commerce Ltd, trading as Sovereign Macro Lens ("we"), processes personal data as a controller under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
Data we collect
- Account & contact data — name, business email, employer, job title, country.
- Transactional data — orders, invoices and payment references (payment card data is handled by our payment processor and never stored on our systems).
- Usage data — pages viewed, reports downloaded, session logs, IP address.
- Correspondence — emails and messages you send us.
Why we process it (lawful basis)
- Performance of contract — delivering the Research and administering subscriptions.
- Legitimate interests — securing our systems, preventing misuse, improving products.
- Legal obligation — accounting, tax and regulatory record-keeping.
- Consent — where we send marketing to individuals who have opted in.
Sharing
We share personal data only with sub-processors that support the Services (hosting, email, payment, analytics) and with professional advisers or authorities where legally required. A current sub-processor list is maintained on our Security & trust page. We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
Some sub-processors are located outside the UK. Where they are, transfers rely on UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, as applicable.
Retention
Account and transactional records are retained for the duration of the client relationship and for at least six years thereafter for tax and audit purposes. Usage logs are retained for up to 24 months. Marketing consent records are retained until withdrawal plus two years.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). To exercise any right, contact privacy@macrolens.com.
Data Processing Agreement
Clients who require a signed Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with associated Standard Contractual Clauses can request our template from privacy@macrolens.com.
